Kids Healthy Eating Rewards Chart
With the new year most of the country, like myself, vow to eat cleaner. Here is a simple and fun activity to do with the kids. It can help remind them that eating healthy is fun, engaging and rewarding.
My two year old and my fabulous mother put together Kylie's food chart that hangs proudly in our kitchen. It's a game because Kylie (2 years) enjoys finding what she has just eaten on the chart and rewarding herself with a sticker. NOTE: there is not a junk food category.
You'll need:
Large poster board, and some white computer paper
Old food magazines, weekly store ads or product packaging
glue, scissors, pens and stickers
How to:
Have the kids select, rip, cut out food photos of what they enjoy to eat (think healthy)
Categorize on the poster board (on ours we realize Nuts are a protein but thought it could stand alone)
Attach photos in the category
Use white paper (cut down to size) under each food category as a home base for the reward stickers. This paper is here because once the stickers fill it up- we replace the sheet of paper and not the whole poster.
After meals have your child put a sticker by the healthy foods they have just enjoyed.
Have your say
