Local Pumpkin Patch Reviews

Silveyville, Cool Patch and Larry's Produce

By Erin Ardans October 14, 2019

As promised, here's a review of our trips to the local pumpkin patches around town!

Silveyville Pumpkin Patch and Christmas Tree Farm

Located in Dixon has a duck pond, two kids play areas, and an ATV train tour of the farm. Just to name a few things to do.

Open everyday from 10am-6pm.

Location: 6248 Silveyville Road Dixon, CA 95620

What My kid(s) loved: My tween LOVED the ATV ride! He was just the right size to ride by himself. He also loved the corn bath. AND they helped us find a baking pumpkin, I never knew there was a sweeter variety than the standard sugar pumpkin. (It's the green one pictured in the middle).

What I loved: Separate spaces for big and little ones. Although, the manager would have allowed him to play supervised with the smaller ones, he was much more interested in the big kids area. I felt much safer - even though he's usually careful, but I had my hands full with baby and he was able to go in and out by himself. I appreciated that they had lots of shady picnic areas and activities for hot days! Lastly, although there are paid activities, there are plenty of free activities as well!

Tips: The terrain is not very stroller friendly with patches of mud and gravel although this is true for most pumpkin patches. Be sure to bring a carrier as an alternative if you have a sleeping baby (pictured).

Cool Patch Pumpkins

Located in Dixon is home of the Guinness Book of World Records largest Corn maze. They also have a hay ride, cars, as well as a corn kernel pit and much much more. Open everyday from 9am-8pm.

Location: 6150 Dixon Ave West Dixon, CA 95620

What My kid(s) loved: My tween and my husband mastered the maze under 2 hours! We also rode the hay ride. My son loved that there were plenty of sweet treats - including caramel corn and pumpkin pie!

What I loved: There were lots of photo opportunities although I didn't take many as I was mostly waiting around in the shade and visiting with my parents who accompanied us this day. Shady area with communal tables for picnicking or food from their selection of typical American fare -corn dogs, tri-tip, hot dogs and more!

Tips: Go early! It got HOT very quickly after arriving around 11 AM and there is not a lot of shade. Wear sun protection, dress in layers and bring or buy water! I was a little dehydrated and tired after we picked pumpkins in the sun for about 20-30 minutes (feeling wiped in my selfie LOL). Again, use a baby carrier for sleeping babies as the terrain here is even more rugged and it was hard to park the stroller for our hay ride, plus they don't allow strollers in the maze!

Larry's Produce

Located in Fairfield has a fun pumpkin patch right behind all the produce. Here you will find a giant slide that takes kids right into a huge corn kernel pit. They also have a smaller corn bath for toddlers a you pick pumpkin patch and more. Be sure to bring cash - as they are a cash only venue. Open everyday from 9am to 5pm.

Location: 6150 Dixon Ave West Dixon, CA 95620

What My kid(s) loved: My tween did not accompany this time. But my infant son enjoyed a snooze as we walked around the pumpkins.

What I loved: Lots of displays are around the main part of the "pumpkin patch" for photo opportunities everything here is free! They have a slide this year and I can't wait to take my older son back to play in the corn bath and to do the small maze they have.

Tips: Go early! Again, there is not a lot of shade. Wear sun protection, dress in layers and bring water! Also know that they only take CASH so come prepared.
